Watercoloring Sky/Clouds

I'm playing along at MFT Sketch Challenge again. MFT always come up with interesting card layout and on top of that, it offers great prize for the winner. It is hard to miss out! Most of the time I use MFT stamps but sometimes depending on the goal I'm trying to achieve, I may end up with using other stamps because I don't own a MFT stamp that fit well into the theme.

In today's case, I wanted to try a new-to-me technique for making clouds. The most commonly used method for making clouds is to use a cloud shape mask and apply inks. Today I wanted to try easy watercoloring. I first used flat watercolor brush to apply a blue gradient wash on my watercolor paper. Before the paint dries, I used paper towel to pick up the paints. It looked simple, but I actually tried 3 times before I was able to get more natural cloud shapes.

I'm submitting this card to the following challenges.

Supplies used in this card:
  • Stampingbella Tiny Townie blossom loves balloons (SB)
